Types, Forms and Styles of Writing
Writing is everywhere. It can take on a great number of forms depending on what the writer wants to create. If you’re a student, you likely live in a world of essays and papers. If you’re an employee, your writing is likely proposals and reports. There are a great number of forms that writing can take, and each one has its own guidelines and its own importance in the world of the written world.
There are 4 types of writing in an essay which is expository, persuasive, narrative and descriptive. For expository texts, the intention is to explain, describe or interpret a situation, issue or event. It explains, it does not present an argument. It considers all aspects of an issue without taking a side or setting out to prove a case. For example, if you wrote an expository account of an issue and then tried to demonstrate the benefits over the disadvantages, you would be adding argument; an expository text would explore both without showing preference.
Besides that, persuasive texts set out to argue and prove a case. It aims to convince targeted audience of the validity of a viewpoint on an issue by presenting a logical argument. It presents ideas that follow in a logical progression. It presents well-researched evidence to support the case. It is written with precision and authority.

Furthermore, the intention of narrative texts is to tell a story. The writing is based on a story or our imagination. In the texts, we will include some characters and dialogues. Next, it also has definite and logical beginnings, intervals and endings.
Moreover, descriptive writing is a type of expository writing that uses the five senses to paint a picture for the reader. This writing incorporates imagery and specific details. For descriptive texts, it is main to describe. It is to describe a character, an event or place. It is poetic, takes time to be specific in descriptions. We use our 5 senses while we are writing with this form.
